“To protect life in European waters and throughout the global ocean, it’s critical that the #EU weans itself off harmful subsidies. But ending harmful fisheries subsidies doesn’t mean ending support for fishers themselves.” #StopFundingOverfishing #SDG14
Great to also see @MSCecolabel calling on the @WTO members to abolish harmful fishing subsidies. Only by joining forces will we successfully reform harmful fishery practices for the benefit of billions of people. Let’s aim for an ambitious agreement by the end of 2020.
Sustainable fishing will only be possible if financial assistance allowing distant fleets to overfish ends. @WTO members should seize this opportunity to end harmful subsidies. Excellent insights from @ian_urbina in this article #StopFundingOverFishing
Congratulations, @JohnKerry. We are at a tipping point in history, and I can’t think of a better person to take on bold #climate leadership and advocate for our blue planet than you. I know you will push for ambitious action. https://nyti.ms/376FyG6
